Auriculotherapy

We practice modern and traditional acupuncture. We use many methods for diagnosis, but a unique part of our treatments is that we utilize the ear as a tool for acupuncture diagnosis and treatment. This is called Auriculotherapy. Upon your first session we will use a unit that will assess the disrupted nerve endings in your ear (totally painless).  This helps identify areas in your body that need balancing. After taking this vital information from your ear we will then use this to target the acupuncture treatment. Some of our patients call it the lie detector test! Best to come in and experience for yourself.

How and Why Does Auriculotherapy Work So Well?

In the 1950s, Dr. Paul Nogier, of France, learned that some of his patients had found relief of sciatica pain when a practitioner had cauterized a particular point on their ears. This led him to find and "map" the acupuncture points of the ear, believing that various conditions could be treated by stimulating the corresponding reflex points on the ear with simple acupressure.

One of the core principles of this healing technology is that the outer portion of the ear (the auricle) is a mirror image of an inverted human fetus (shown in image).

The ear is a microcosmic representation of the entire body. In other words, every point of the outer ear corresponds to, and is associated with, a specific part of the human anatomy.

That means every part of your body can be accessed through points on your outer ear. Traditional acupuncture on the body works on the energy meridians of the body. In contrast, auriculotherapy is based on nerve connections (in the human nervous system) which allows for a powerful localized treatment for the organs or systems involved in the health issue.

Instead of working on a particular symptom, it directly stimulates particular points on the ear which sends messages to the brain. The brain then transmits "orders" to the body to accomplish healing and balancing activities.

After examining Dr. Nogier's map of the ear, the Chinese conducted extensive research and proposed a slightly modified map to the one developed by Dr. Nogier. The two charts were merged into a single, powerful system with 120 points. This is the system now used in Asia, the U.S., Europe and South America.

Why it works is because the stimulation of the ear's reflex points improves the flow of energy within the body which removes blockages to restore balance and health in the particular nerve ending and balancing the nervous system.

And the best part is there are no annoying or dangerous side effects.
Even if you haven't heard of it before, auriculotherapy is not an unconventional or unproven treatment. Auriculotherapy is recognized and approved by he U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the The World Health Organization (WHO). Plus our technique of combining Auriculotherapy and traditional acupuncture therapy has been working for us for 51 years and counting...
